2010 Tuesday Night Ride Schedule

We are delighted to release our new schedule, and want to thank all of those who have agreed to lead rides. Tuesday Night Rides leave promptly at 5:30 p.m.. New riders are always welcome. Please bring a friend.

Riders can again choose to be in the “A” group (the "hammerheads") in a pace line, which averages about 18 miles an hour, or with the “B” group, which chats along the way at a relaxed 12 to 14 miles an hour. If the weather is questionable, we encourage ride leaders to call the West Hill Shop to let us know whether their ride will be taking place.

We all know fellow cyclists who have been in serious accidents, some of whom were struck by drivers distracted by various electronic devices. Please remember to dress in bright colors to increase the chance that you will be seen, especially at dusk.

Your dues help to pay for our club’s affiliations and support cycling. We are keeping membership dues this year to a modest $10 for individuals, and $20 for families. Putney Bicycle Club members receive a 10% discount on clothing, tires and tubes at the West Hill Shop. A portion of your dues will be used to help pay for a dinner following our last ride this summer at the West Hill Shop on August 31st. If you would like to join the Putney Bicycle Club, please send your dues to Pam Matweecha at 15 Bullock Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301.

This is your club. Our bylaws state that our purpose is to promote cycling (road racing, mountain bike racing, cyclocross racing, time trialing, recreational cycling, endurance cycling, touring, and commuting). We encourage those who want to lead mountain bike and road rides, or just have someone else join them, to post their rides on the calendar on our website.

We always welcome your suggestions, and look forward to seeing you on the road.

2010 Tuesday Night Rides

Greetings,

With the days getting longer and the snow beginning to melt, many of us are itching to ride outdoors once again. The season will be upon us in a month. By all accounts the Tuesday Night Rides last year were very successful, thanks to all of our leaders. We need your help in scheduling rides this summer, and have scheduled a planning meeting for later this month.

Our planning meeting will start with a potluck dinner at the West Hill Shop on Tuesday, March 16^th at 6 p.m. If you are able to join us, please come prepared to lead one or more rides this summer. All that we will need is a meeting place, a brief description of the route, the approximate distance, and a suggested place for dinner. We plan to have rides scheduled every Tuesday night from April 6^th through August 31^st.

If you are unable to join us on March 16^th, but are willing to lead one or more rides, please e-mail that information to me at jfcook3@gmail.com.
